Monarch Butterflies and Eco Gardening
Join us virtually on Thursday, January 13th at 7:00 pm for this informative and enjoyable program from Piermont’s own Mich Brisson! Details and registration on our events calendar.
“This is a two part talk. In the first half- I will share a bit about my experiences raising monarch butterflies- how and why I got involved, splashes of what I have learned over the years and some ideas of how you can support the lives and migration of these marvelous insects in your own backyard! Speaking of your own backyard – in the second half – the focus will be on what is happening in one of our Piermont parks. Through the Piermont Parks Commission and in conjunction with our DPW, I am working in Half-Moon Park restoring it with native trees, shrubs and plants. Learn about this ongoing project that not only supports biodiversity locally but invites community participation via gardening and art. A resource page will be provided to all participants.”
Virtual Art Show of the Month: Piermont Marsh Watercolors by Robert Adzema
For the month of January, the Piermont Library presents Piermont Marsh Watercolors by Robert Adzema. You can view the show here https://www.piermontlibrary.org/artist-of-the-month/
From the artist……
Please join me for this virtual viewing of a collection of my watercolor paintings of our beautiful Piermont Marsh.
All these watercolors were painted on location in all types of weather, times of day and seasons of the year.
I paint in watercolors because it is a lightweight and easily transportable medium. Using colors, water and paper, it is a fluid medium for painting which rewards working quickly particularly when trying to capture changing and dramatic light effects or weather conditions.
Painting the Piermont Marsh, Sparkill Creek and the Piermont Pier offers many unique landscape options for the painter. There are the closed and intimate spaces of the creek, the open sky and vistas from the Pier and the mixed and varied landscapes of the marsh and Tallman Mountain as a backdrop.
I hope you will take some time to scroll through my paintings and enjoy the point of view, time of day and the energy of my engagement with the wind, waves, light and colors of our beautiful Piermont landscape.
All the paintings are for sale with a portion of any sales going to benefit the Piermont Library.
All the watercolors come matted in archival mat board.
To purchase a painting please contact robert.adzema@gmail.com. with the number and title of the painting you would like.
More information about the artist can be found at his website: http//www.robertadzema.com and on Instagram at: @RobertAdzemaSundials

The show will be up on our website from December 3rd at 7:00 pm through the month of December. You can view the show here https://www.piermontlibrary.org/artist-of-the-month/
Each piece is priced at $250 or less this year. If you see something you would like to purchase, please email the library at astarke@piermontlibrary.org. But don’t delay as works will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Pieces will be available for pick-up from the library December 20th – 23rd. Payment can be made by cash or check at time of pick-up.
The Piermont Library’s Annual Gift of Art Show is a favorite holiday tradition in Piermont. Each year, “art show alumni,” who have had a show in the past, come back to take part in this festive group show. Normally, we have a gala reception to kick off the holiday season in Piermont, with upwards of 250 people celebrating with live music, delicious hors d’oeuvres and prosecco, and we hope to resume that in 2022.
Proceeds from the show will help support programming at the Piermont Library. Please call (845-359-4595) or email us (astarke@piermontlibrary.org) with any questions.
We wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our artist friends and the community for continuing to support the library and this annual tradition.
We hope you enjoy the show!
