Art Show of the Month- Daniel Kazimierski: Camera Obscura/ Manhattan

November 21, 2024 By Alexis Starke

Stop by anytime in November for our Art Show of the Month- Daniel Kazimierski: Camera Obscura/ Manhattan.  All images in this exhibit were taken with Lens-less/Pinhole Apparatus also known as Camera Obscura, which translated from Latin means Dark Chamber. Due to an exceedingly small pinhole aperture that the camera is fitted with, the exposures are lengthy which, depending on lighting conditions, may take from a few seconds to a few minutes or longer. This kind of camera does not have a viewfinder or shutter, thus the photographer must rely on intuition while taking pictures.

Join us (via Zoom) on Thursday, November 21st, at 6:00 pm for Amazing Sicily! with Loretta Tito.  Please register for this program on our website events calendar.  A Zoom link will be sent when we are close to the date.

Amazing Sicily!

Travel with me on a trip through Sicily, to World Heritage Sites. See intricate floor mosaics in a Villa which has survived since the 4th century AD! Walk with us 30 ft. underground to a 6th century Jewish Mikveh or Bath that had once been hidden from the public & then unearthed in1989. Learn about foods that originated in Sicily like, Chick Pea Panelle, Busiate Pasta, Arancini, Cannoli, Caponata, Cassatta. Join us as we accompany a friend to his ancestral town where he was thrilled to find the house that had once belonged to his grandparents. Delight in the Art! Food! History! Discovery!

Loretta Tito taught at the Upper Nyack Elementary School for 32 years. Now retired, she’s an avid gardener and a Master Gardener Volunteer with Cornell Cooperative Extension. She’s active in a study group that requires research followed by oral reports.
