Join us for a fun, relaxing, and creative series of art classes taught by Alexis Starke! We will explore a range of materials and techniques and draw inspiration from a variety of sources from contemporary artists, art history, science, and the natural world. For our first project we will create imaginary landscapes inspired by contemporary American artist Shara Hughes. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Hughes lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. She earned a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and later attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. She describes her lush, vibrantly chromatic images of hills, rivers, trees and shorelines, often framed by abstract patterning, as “invented landscapes. All materials are provided. Please email email@example.com with any questions. Registration through our website events page.
